Collection: Nothing, 2026
Porcelain
“Collection: Nothing” is a hanging installation drawing from the tradition of Ling Long porcelain, a technique originating in Jingdezhen, China, historically associated with decorative tableware. By isolating its defining elements, namely the pierced porcelain forms and translucent glaze, and reconstructing them at installation scale, the work repositions an undervalued craft within a contemporary art context.
The artwork presents three elements: flat, 3D-printed porcelain panels, delicate wheel-thrown vessels and variations of Ling Long glazes. These exemplify my range of material experiments, staging a dialogue between digital fabrication, handcraft and glaze chemistry.
Rendered entirely in white, the work draws attention through sheer accumulation. The collection of pieces is immersive, even overwhelming, yet the absence of narrative renders it strangely empty. It is this tension, between fullness and void, abundance and blankness, that sits at the work's core, showcasing material possibility that ultimately says nothing, and everything.
